Flu Prevention Tips

 

           1.  Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds

           2.  Cover your cough and sneeze into your elbow or tissue

           3.  Get a flu shot.  Call 211 for vaccine-related information

           4.  If you get the flu, avoid contact with others as much as possible until you have been symptom-free (without medicines) for 24 hours.

make a backup plan today!

Disability Law Handbook:  The Southwest Disability and Business Technical Assitance Center (DBTAC) - funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research has a Disability Law Handbook available on thier website at:  http://www.swdbtac.org/html/publications/dlh/index.html

Federal Government Disability Website: Disability.gov features comprehensive information from 22 federal agencies, as well as educational institutions, non-profit organizations and state and local governments. Topics covered on the site include: benefits; civil rights; community life; education; emergency preparedness; employment; health; housing; technology; and transportation.  www.Disability.gov

The Alzheimer's Association of Northern California offers services to people with memory problems, a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease or a related disorder and their caregivers and family members.  programs include a helpline, support groups, newsletters, public policy and advocacy and research.  Call 1-800-660-1993 or check out the website at http://www.alznorcal.org.

Family Caregiver Alliance is a national center on caregiving that assists caregivers of loved ones with chronic, diabling brain disorders (such as Alzheimer's disease, dementia, stroke, brain injury, or Multiple Sclerosis). Family Caregiver Alliance services include information, education, publications, care planning, individual and group counseling, legal consultations, respite, research, public policy and program development.  Call 1-800-445-8106 or check out the website at http://www.caregiver.org.

Health Information for Senior Citizens is available from the National Institutes of Health through this web site designed specifically with older adults' needs in mind.  Go to www.nihseniorhealth.gov to get up-to-date health information for seniors.

Lavender Seniors fo the East Bay provides social activities, support, and networking for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender seniors in the East Bay. The Mission of Lavender Seniors of the East Bay is to improve the quality of life of older Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender residents of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties through outreach, advocacy, and education.
